Hi John...

Missed you in the class on Saturday. I suppose you aren't taking the waterfalls class.
I enjoyed reading your story...My husband has also been in the unemployed ranks...in 2010...which was a very bad year for us in many ways. He is now employed, but not loving what he is doing. But, you know???....anything is better than nothing! I am working at my art, but it sure is hard to sell things. Most of my work has been commission. but I would love to just sell paintings. I suppose I should put some of Johannes' tips to work and drag out a canvas and see how I do. Kinda scary though.

Hope you keep up the good work!

Hi John, I've been visiting your website and it seems very good. The illustration work very original and some done with very good technique. I am also following the course of Matt. Hopefully, my English was much better, because I know that there are important things I do not understand, but still I have noticed much improvement.

A greeting

Congratulations

I think it is important that digital painters be prepared to explain their creative process. The more people see that it is actually painting on a blank canvas and not a photo manipulation the better! New things in art don't get accepted overnight, we just have to be patient and continue honing our talents because in the end good art is good art no matter how it was created!

Oh I hear your pain! I have a traditional art background, but 'found' digital painting late last year after being unable to paint for 9 months due to having our house up for sale and my studio all packed up:(

Painter X saved my creative soul and I was *so* excited about it (still am), but I was quite devastated when I visited traditional art sites that I have belonged to for many years, to find that many traditional artists are the ones with the most viscous contempt of digital art, based on incorrect assumptions, just like you have found.

I too can create from a blank canvas, and get so annoyed at people that incorrectly assumes that the computer does it all.

The traditional artists who declare that all digital work is not art, the photographers who proclaim digital art is just photoshop effects/filters and the people who claim to 'digitally paint' from photos when all they do is run a few filters on the image and don't even photopaint, digital artists do have a bit of an uphill battle to achieve acceptance in the art world.

Luckily its and exciting journey, and I am sure that widespread acceptance is just around the corner!

Hi John...

I think this is excellent. The colors are wonderful and I particularly like the sky. You have handled the brushes very well...really looks like traditional watercolor.
