Here is a small tribute to the best figure artist in the history of comics in my opinion. He always inspired me with the love of figure drawing.
Here is a small retrospective of his comics career:
Also here is an official page with a wealth of information about the man himself and his career.
Here is Mr. Buscema himself drawing several characters:
Captain America is my all time favorite character.
I am taking a course from Richard Robinson, a New Zealand Painter called Mastering Color. This course is very comprehensive course on seeing, understanding, and using color effectively in painting. After the first lesson I learned more than two college courses I have taken on Color/Color theory. This course starts out with basic color theory and goes through seeing, describing color. The other lessons goes through getting proper values, manipulating color, color harmony as well as light effects.

I have been focusing the last several week on learning to handle the brush in traditional watercolors, as opposed to digital. I was trying to use digital watercolors in Painter 11 and ArtRage 3, but the watercolor emulation is just not there yet. Though ArtRage is a very good emulation in some ways, but it needs to have a flat brush to make it better.
I have been following the 5 week course in Watercolor 101 by Molly Murrah at CreativeTechs. The course was earlier in the year around March and I purchased the video downloads and I am at about week 2 now. I am learning brush control and color mixing, I should be posting my first color wheel soon. The course will be repeated starting July 30th, see the following link to register. If you watch it live it is free, but you will definitely want to buy the downloads. Click on graphic below to go to CreativeTechs Watercolor 101 course site.
I am also taking instruction from Bob Davies at Watercolor Secrets. This looks to be a very comprehensive course and I am working through it in tandem with the Watercolor 101 class from Creative Techs.
